Abstract

The modern era presents complex challenges including digital hyperconnectivity, materialism, and meaning crisis that threaten the balance of human fitrah and increase the prevalence of mental health disorders. This study aims to formulate fitrah-based psychological strategies to manage these contemporary challenges. The method used is a qualitative-narrative literature review with sources searched through Google Scholar from 2020-2026. Results show that fitrah disturbances manifest through existential anxiety, digital depression, and existential vacuum. Effective psychological strategies include: (1) muraqabah (spiritual-based mindfulness) to enhance emotional regulation and inner peace; (2) tauhid-based cognitive reframing and tawakkul to transform cognitive distortions into husnuzhan (positive thinking) perspectives; and (3) tazkiyatun nafs as a holistic self-development framework toward insan kamil (perfect human). The proposed integrative model emphasizes the importance of multidimensional balance between spiritual, cognitive, emotional, and social aspects. The study concludes that Islamic psychology approaches integrating spiritual dimensions are more effective in addressing modern existential crises than conventional approaches. This research provides theoretical contributions to the development of Islamic psychology and practical implications for clinicians and educators in building fitrah-based mental resilience.
