Traumatic events are experiences that can affect an individual's psychological well-being in both the short and long term. This article aims to examine the risk factors, symptoms, prevention strategies, and treatment of psychological trauma based on scientific literature. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach using a literature review method. The sources include scientific journal articles and relevant books discussing psychological trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), risk factors, symptoms, social support, and psychological interventions. The literature is reviewed and analyzed descriptively by organizing information into key themes relevant to the study's objectives. The findings indicate that the risk and impact of psychological trauma are influenced by various factors, including previous traumatic experiences, individual characteristics, the severity of the traumatic event, and the availability of social support. Symptoms may include intrusive memories, nightmares, avoidance behaviors, mood changes, and heightened vigilance. Prevention and treatment strategies include strengthening social support, increasing mental health awareness, and providing professional assistance, including evidence-based psychotherapy tailored to individual needs. This review highlights the importance of a comprehensive understanding of psychological trauma as a foundation for supporting prevention, recovery, and appropriate treatment.
